Mul Cotton sarees by Eeshani.
Mul cotton sarees feel feather-light in an Indian summer, and that is why they are the first thing many of us reach for in April. This collection brings together checks, gingham, zari borders and floral embroidery in soft, breathable mul cotton, with prices starting at ₹1,999 including taxes.
Mul is a very fine cotton with a gentle, slightly sheer hand, which makes it easy to drape and easy to wear for hours. Choose black and white for the office, rose or green for a casual lunch, or a white saree with a zari border for a puja at home. Prepaid orders ship free across India. It is the saree we recommend to anyone who has never worn one for a whole day and wants to start somewhere kind.

Mul cotton is loosely woven, so air moves through it. That makes it far more comfortable than denser fabrics in heat and humidity, and it softens with each wash. It is also forgiving: it pleats well, holds its shape through a long day, and costs less to maintain than silk.
To style a mul cotton saree, keep the blouse simple. A contrast blouse in a solid shade suits checks and stripes, while a matching blouse lets zari borders shine. Add a slim watch or a pair of silver earrings and you are ready for work. Wash new sarees separately for the first few washes, dry them in shade, and iron on a medium setting while slightly damp. A light starch gives crisper pleats on days when you want a more structured look. A well-kept mul cotton saree also improves with age, because it grows softer with every wash without losing its shape.
Mul is fine and light, so wear a petticoat in a shade close to your skin tone or the saree colour to keep the drape opaque.
Hand wash gently or use a delicate cycle, separately for the first few washes. Dry in shade and iron while slightly damp.
